The mission of the Department of Information Technology is to be a catalyst for the Prince William County Government to help deliver convenient and flexible constituent services, experiences, and outcomes to the Prince William County community, through an unwavering commitment to technology excellence, efficiency, and value.
MorePrince William County won first place in the 2023 Digital Counties Survey Awards in the 250,000-499,999-population category. The annual award recognizes a distinguished group of counties that have worked hard to improve their digital, citizen and government experience through technology and leadership, and is sponsored by the Center for Digital Government (CDG) and the National Association of Counties (NACo).
Prince William County was recognized along with five other counties nationwide by the Center for Digital Government for raising the bar using innovative technologies to enhance government service delivery, create a better engaged constituency and a more responsive government.
DoIT launched the Prince William Technology Inclusion Initiative (TII) to help resolve chronic issues of technology access, affordability, and literacy across the County. A key tenet of our plans is the belief that delivering high-speed broadband access Countywide isn’t enough if residents can’t afford it, or might be missing some of the key skills required to thrive in an increasingly digital world. This plan addresses all three of those challenge areas.
Digital Prince William's goal is to improve technology literacy across the County by addressing all impediments that might exist for residents and businesses. Registration is now open for free smart phone classes targeted to older adult County residents. Future classes will be developed as funding becomes available to reach other unserved or underserved County residents and businesses.
