VCE has served families in Prince William and surrounding counties for 20-plus years. Our class instructors have extensive training to teach a broad range of parenting techniques in areas of child development, anger management, communication, and deterring risky teen behavior.

Class participants must pick up their class material IN PERSON on Mondays to Fridays from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm at Virginia Cooperative Extension, 8033 Ashton Ave, Suite 105, Manassas, VA 20109.
Systematic Training for Effective Parenting Program (STEP)
STEP is a seven (7) week class. Parents will be taught a practical approach to raising children. How to develop long-term goals for effective parenting and age-appropriate child behaviors. Parents will be taught how to build family cooperation, the difference between discipline and punishment, and how to develop their child's self-esteem. Parents will be taught anger management and methods to practice emotional self-care.

When Families Get Angry (WFGA)
WFGA is a three (3) week class. Parents will be taught constructive methods to handle anger, how to identify triggers, and positive communication under stress. Topics include learning where anger begins, recognizing different styles of anger, practicing coping skills, and how to express anger appropriately.

Juvenile Justice Parenting Program (JJPP)
JJPP is an eight (8) week class for parents and a seven (7) week class for teens. Parents and teens are taught in separate classes.
Parents will be taught skills to guide their teens to be responsible, cooperative, and independent. Parents will be taught how to spot risky teen behavior, and how to deter that behavior to prevent court involvement. Parents will be taught anger management. positive communication and how to navigate the negative and positive sides of social media. Teens will be taught anger management, the importance of following rules, responsibility, school attendance, effective communication, and how to be respectful to themselves and others.
